My MIL lived in this building with her family when she was younger. It's so crazy that we ended up on the same little island decades later! |

even the ugly building look a little prettier here. |
I participated in an Instagram hashtag project over the weekend. The theme was "portrait of a home". Of course my pictures had an island style twist!
I love being a part of these projects because it challenges the artistic side of me and makes me view things from an angle that I may not have before. We often think of people when we think "portrait", so the idea behind the project was to capture images where the home was the star of the photo.
I had a lot of fun gathering these pictures and I think these shots came out really great so I thought I'd share! Isn't in insane how the ugliest things (like the building above) suddenly transform when put in a certain setting? Ahh I love photography. I'm by no means a professional but man oh man I love it.

Yep, water on one side and mountains on the other is pretty much perfect! My man wants to move in to one of those big apartment buildings downtown when he comes back from deployment, but I want somewhere a little more like the first house =)
