sara the superstar

Image
Meet Sara.  Yea, I know. She's gorgeous. She also happens to be incredibly talented. AND (more importantly) she's my friend. (We have a pretty incredible friendship love story, by the way. But that's for another time.) Sara always said that she was going to move to LA and be an actress-- you know, like all of us said as kids. The difference is, Sara never stopped saying it. And then one day, she did it. "Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Sara Amini began acting at the age of 7 when she was cast as the lead elf in her elementary school Christmas play. At age ten, she decided she wanted a career in film and television after watching the movie Titanic. Since July 2010, Sara has been living in Los Angeles in pursuit of that career." (via  IMBd ) Sure she was scared. And yep, people doubted her. But that didn't stop her, ever. She currently lives in Los Angeles and has played roles in several short films, television shows,

blog angel reveal

Image
Back in May, I signed up to be a blog angel. You can read a little more about it  here . It basically means that for the month of June, I was a secret "angel" to a fellow blogger.  And that fellow blogger was... Jess @  Jess is More ! Kinda ironic given the name of my blog, huh? Anyway, I have to admit, I kinda sucked at being an angel. But I promise I tried! Besides the fact that we both have a super awesome name, it was hard for me to find ways to relate to Jess. Jess is awesome in the kitchen. My kitchen hates me. (or maybe I just hate my kitchen.) Jess is all about eating right, losing weight, and working out. I am lazy and eat junk food. Jess has been blogging about her wedding planning experiences. I absolutely HATED planning our wedding. I'm going to stop with the list now because Jess is sounding a lot cooler than me. But there was one thing that Jess writes about that I can definitely relate to. Lily! Lily is her dog,

laughter + confessions to friends

[via] 1. I confess that when I got the phone call about your accident, my world shattered for a moment. Thank God you were ok. 2. I confess that, on several occasions, I've had to bite my tongue and force myself not to scream at your parents. They don't appreciate you or respect you nearly as much as they should, and I'm sorry for that. 3. I confess that sometimes I worry about you. 4. I confess that sometimes you hurt my feelings. 5. I confess that one of my favorite things to do with you is eat a ton of food. 6. I confess that I miss you a lot more than I say out loud. 7. I confess that I consider you family. 8. I confess that even though I don't like to admit it, most of the time you're right. 9. I confess that sometimes, a lot of times, I get jealous of you with other friends. Not because I don't want you to have any friends, but because I'm not there and can't be there. 10. I confess that even t

[via] So today is a gloomy day that topped off a semi-crappy week. I hate to complain about where we live. It's Hawaii. It's paradise. So many people would love to live here.  I get it.  Don't get me wrong- it is wonderful. And it is beautiful.  If I could just build a bridge from here to Texas, then I think I'd stay forever. Or maybe I can just become a millionaire and buy a private jet? Or if one of you has one, maybe you could let me borrow it sometime? Anyway my point is that although it's amazing in so many ways, one thing that has been very hard for us is being away from family. (Well that and being away from Texas food but that's a different subject.) It's especially hard during rough times. Like today. And this month in general. It breaks my heart that I can't be there with my family. It makes me feel helpless. Even if I couldn't actually help the situation, it still feels good to be there, physically, with someone that

do you think i'm pretty?

Image
Ok, don't answer that. But really, what do you think of my blog's makeover? A lot better than before, right? As you know, I'm very indecisive, so it was a bit difficult (ok really difficult) to make any designing decisions! Thank God for Tiffany @  TKC Designs !  She was soooo easy to work with! So, go ahead. Take a look around. You'll notice I have advertising options open (including swaps!), a new button, and tons of fun stuff to keep you busy for a while. Let me know what you think! And check out TKC Designs  for more fabulous blog designs!

texans in hawaii!

Image
it's upside down because we're in distress.. Even if you don't know me very well, there's a good chance that you know I'm Texan.  Why? Because us Texans are proud of where we're from.  And why are we so proud? Because Texas is the greatest country on earth, obviously. Erica  explained it best when she said, "Some may say the place we live in is paradise, but I'm sure if you asked any one of us we'd disagree. Don't get me wrong, we think Hawaii is pretty awesome. But you can never take the Texas out of a girl." My thoughts exactly! So with all of my Texas pride inside, imagine my excitement when I found fellow Texans here in Hawaii! One of the best things that I've experienced through blogging is the community of bloggers and getting to meet some of those lovely ladies in person was awesome. The fact that they are from Texas was just the cherry on top. I brought along my girlfriend too. She's not from Texas,

Ok guys.. I did it.. I caved!  After lots of thinking, I started a  Facebook page  for this little blog of mine! Every list of "blog tips" that I've ever read says to join every social media outlet possible. So I'm giving it a try and we'll see how it goes. Do me a favor, will you? If you like me, go and like my Facebook page too pretty please! That way I won't look like such a loser :) Oh, and you'll also get a sneak peak of my new blog design that's almost finished! same place, new memories

So I know I've mentioned it about 989874892375 times already, but Jared and I just celebrated our 2 year anniversary (whoop!) this past Friday (June 22nd).  We spent it doing two of my favorite things: lounging at the beach and eating. And we may have slipped in a few cocktails.  It's usually such a problem trying to decide which beach to go to. There are just so many to choose from and I'm the most indecisive person on earth! But this time was different. We knew exactly where we were going. Bellows Beach. Exactly 2 years ago, Jared took me to this beach. We packed a cooler and had a little picnic. Well kinda.. I sat on the cooler (it was one of those cheap foam ones) like an idiot and it broke.  June 2010- before I sat on the cooler June 2010- cloudy but still beautiful! Then it started pouring rain on us. It could have ended up being a "ruined" day but it ended up being one of my favorite dates. We could not stop laughing at the situ

how long has it been?! [our love story]

Image
"A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person." -  Mignon McLaughlin Exactly 2 years ago, Jared and I said "I do.". It was actually kind of crazy and could have ended up really bad. See, what lots of people don't know is that although Jared and I have been friends since 2006, we actually didn't meet in person until 2010. We spent a total of 2 weeks together, in person, before we decided, this was it . We had built this strong connection over the years prior to marriage. I can honestly say that I fell in love with him before we even met.  Now I know what you're thinking... You're crazy! You barely knew him before you married him! And a lot of our friends (and I'm sure our family) thought the same thing. But the thing is, I did know him. I knew him better than I knew anyone I had ever dated before. We talked for hours and hours everyday. We told each other everything. We grew this ama

rants, confessions, and wine

Image
[via] 1. I confess that I tend to wine a lot. And yes, I mean wine and not whine.  2. I confess that I have not put any time or money into advertising this little blog yet. Why? Because I'm waiting for the new design to be finished so that it looks absolutely fabulous for all of you. 3. I confess that if you  follow me on Twitter  and immediately unfollow me once you gain ME as a follower, I will unfollow you right back. And I think you're rude. Also, while we're on this subject, if you don't reply to @ mentions on Twitter, I also think you're rude. You are not a celebrity. You do not get 798748923740 Twitter messages per day. If you expect/want followers, interact with them! 4. I confess that I (plus friends) egged that girl's house that one time junior year. Not one of my proudest days. And not that this is an excuse for my immaturity- but she was really mean. 5. I confess that my husband and I were engaged for less that 48 hours before
