i left my heart in uganda

A few nights ago, Jared and I watched Machine Gun Preacher. It brought back so many emotions. 

For those of you who don't know, I went on a mission trip to Uganda in 2005.
That trip changed my life.
I really don't think my heart ever left there. I've yearned to go back ever since I left. It's funny because I was so homesick while I was there.. but the whole time I knew I'd feel this way once I left.

I experienced a lot of things in Uganda. I have so many amazing memories. But that's for another day. Today, I'm writing this to encourage you to step out of your comfort zone. If you want your life to change, you have to change it. Live it. Experience it.

Am I making sense?

It's just that I watched that movie, and I thought about my time in Uganda - and how it changed me - and I realized how incredibly blessed I am to have experienced it - and I thought about how different this world would be if everyone reached out, learned about another culture, did something great even if it's out of their ordinary routine. It would be really different.

Anyway, I need to get back there. In fact, I'm promising myself that I will.

    It was a very good movie and reminded me of the time you where there and all the stories you shared. Do you have the video of you being baptized in the Nile River?

    love this. so true. life would be so much different if everyone purposed to step outside the ordinary even 1 time a month and do something different. i was in albania when i was 19 for a month, it changed me as well.

I have to admit, I had the hardest time matching this necklace with an outfit. Bright colors make me nervous which is probably why my closet is full of neutrals.
