trendy or tacky? [wedge sneakers]

Wedge sneakers have taken over runways and streets around the world and I want to know what the big hype is. When have tennis shoes ever been considered a fashion statement unless you are in the 90's and/or a hip hop artist? Someone put a wedge in these sneakers and suddenly it's a trend?
I think there must have been an outbreak in models with sore feet because I hear these babies are super comfy- and I'm all about comfort.
Now don't get me wrong, the trend is weird enough that some people can rock it. And by some people, I do not mean myself.

What do you think of this new trend? Hot or not? Either way, I wouldn't invest too much in these. It's a trend that I don't see lasting long (I hope!).

    well, the ones in the pics just by themselves: tacky

    but the ones that the models are wearing...i dont know, they didn't look like wedge sneakers to me? i live in nyc and taught in the bronx for 5 years so wearing sneakers like that is just totally normal to me ... but again, NOT with the wedge!

    I don't like them, but I get it. The point of them is to make your legs look longer and your feet look smaller, without making it look too dressed up.

    I wouldn't choose to wear them, but I understand why other people like it.

    I've seen the first few in person and some people can really pull them off. Definitely not something I'd go out of my way to purchase but if given to me they might be fun to rock to go shopping or some place casual like that.

    I actually like them...but I havent tried any own for myself so I guess it would depend on how they look on my feet.

    My sneaker of choice has always been chucks so I think I may stick with those :)

    I'm on the fence with this trend...all one color seems cool if dressed up well. I did the whole sneaker heel trend back in the day. Think high top with a stiletto heel.

    I´m definitely not a fan of those sneaker wedges!! And I don´t know why people are buying them ?! But this is about taste and tastes luckily differ! =)

I have to admit, I had the hardest time matching this necklace with an outfit. Bright colors make me nervous which is probably why my closet is full of neutrals.
