acts of kindness

I've been meaning to post about this and after reading about Amber's fabulous link-up, this week seemed like the perfect time to do so.
Being away from family during the holidays is hard. Every year that we've lived in Hawaii, I get the winter blues. Even though it's not really "winter' here.. but you know what I mean.

So anyway, we usually end up spending the holidays trying to forget that it's a holiday.. we go on dates or make a fancy dinner at home. It sounds kind of depressing but I've learned to love it. Plus, it reminds me how incredibly blessed I am to have my husband.

This Christmas, my sweet husband had the idea of making Christmas cards and handing them out to random people. The idea alone made me fall in love with him all over again! And instead of exchanging Christmas gifts, we got a bunch of cash out and stuffed those in the cards too.

So we made pretty cards, put some cash and lovely words inside, and went on with our plans. I had the cards in my gigantic purse and we handed them out to several different random people.
The look on the elderly homeless lady, the random windshield we left it on, our sweet waitress.. all of the faces that day were priceless.

It made me happy.
