be brave.

be brave
[via]
I was watching Dateline the other night. The story being featured was about a woman who was in a rough situation and was deathly afraid of trying to leave. She said, "I kept thinking 'I'll die if I try to leave' and then I started to realize 'I'll die if I stay here'".

Although I am in no way in her situation, I found myself relating to what she said.. in a much different way of course, but still, relating.

I thought about some of the decisions I've made in my life. Moving to NYC. Moving to Hawaii. Quitting my corporate job. All of those decisions were made after I reached a breaking point. I wanted something so bad but was too scared to take a leap. I'd finally work up the courage and just do it.

So today, I ask you (and I'm asking myself too) to look at your life, your dreams, your goals... Think about where you are now and where you want to be. What are you waiting for? If you're scared to jump, think about the alternative. If you want change, make it. Because the alternative is nothing. No changes. No goals reached. No dreams made. Be brave.

  4. Short and sweet post but thought-provoking nonetheless. I think you bring up a really good point - the alternative is nothing. No changes. You'd always be left wondering what if, and who wants to live life like that!

  5. Yes! I totally agree with this! Sometimes you have to leap without a net to catch you if you fall. I hope that when I get my first full-time job that I won't be afraid to leave and find something better just because I'm comfortable and making money. No getting stuck in a rut!
