are u a no-reply blogger? [all bloggers should read this!]
Wanna know something that makes me really really sad? When someone leaves a super awesome comment on my blog, I instantly fall in love with them and want to chat, I click to reply to them via email, and BOOM. My whole world shatters because I can't. Why? Because they are a no-reply blogger- meaning their email address is not attached to their blogger account-- so no one can reply!
Lots of you have heard this before (I know I have heard it a million times).
But lots of you have not and probably still have no idea what I'm talking about (I was clueless about this during my first few months of blogging) and I know this for a FACT because I haven't been able to respond to over 50% of the latest comments here!
So instead of walking you through this and repeating what's already been done, READ THIS for info on how to find out if you're a no-reply blogger and how to change it!
Spread the word!

UPDATE!!!: Several of you have commented on this post thinking that you have fixed this problem, but the majority of you are still no-reply bloggers! If I did not reply to you, chances are that it's because I can't and you still have not fixed the problem. I've heard that this is an issue with Google +.
After several attempts, one of our fellow bloggers was able to fix her issue. I asked her to explain this to you all and here's what she had to say:
"Hey Jess, as requested... The instructions in the tutorial are outdated now that blogger has upgraded. In order to make the changes you simply click the little gear icon next to where it says English (or whichever language). The drop down will give you the option to either connect or disconnect from your Google+ profile. For me, I had to disconnect them. Then I could follow the directions in the tutorial. I'm not sure why but Google+ makes you a no-reply blogger if you have the accounts linked." Thanks Michael!!

Whoops. Unintentionally, I was one of those. Problem solved :)
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to say that no, I am not a no-reply blogger. I instantly fixed that problem a few months ago and it's been a breath of fresh air. :)

Ok, I'm back! I really hope the problem is fixed because I was freaking out, lol.
ReplyDeleteI have a contact form on my blog which allows everyone to write me an email, but my email address didn't show up in my profile. After I read your post, I checked and I have changed it now. So thanks for your blog post.
ReplyDeleteI really love to get in touch with new people and chat with them, that's one of the reason I am on blogger.
Have a great day!
Sanny
Hi! I am a no reply blogger on all blogger blogs as far as I know because I use WordPress. I don't know of a fix for this or if there even is one. I need to remember to always include my email address when commenting!
ReplyDeleteI hate when this happens as well. I then have to try to find their blog, if they have one, and reply there or something.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this, Jessica!! It's so true and I hate when I can't write back to someone!
ReplyDeleteJessica you are so right!I recently found out about being myself a no-reply blogger, thanks to a fellow blogger leaving a comment on my blog.If you don't know this flag-to-unflag does exist, you are shutting out a lot of friends without even realising it.So,thanks for your post!xx Coco
ReplyDeleteThank you for this post! I had no idea I was a no reply blogger. Fixed it!
ReplyDeleteThe no-reply bloggers drive me crazy! Thanks for post, hopefully it will help some people fix their accounts.
ReplyDeleteAMEN SISTA!
ReplyDeleteI hope I'm not!!...having a hard-time trying to figure out if I am! :))
ReplyDeletethanks for that! I wasn't a no reply, didn't realize you could just hit reply to the email I get in my box when I get comments, so helpful! Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this! The original blogger you linked to, is actually my mother-in-law haha. So I've had this fixed for a long time, but I agree, it's so sad when I can't reply to someone's comment!!
ReplyDeleteI have just stumbled across your blog, and glad I did! I am new in the blogging community and eagerly trying to make blogger friends! I can safely say, I am most definitely not a 'no-reply blogger'!!!
ReplyDeleteI find there is something so pleasantly, refreshing in having joyous conversations with people I have never met!!!
Chataholics, step my way!! :)
Lovely blog, I am now going to continue reading :)
Thank YOU for pointing this out to me! I removed the Google+ link so I should be reply-able again! =]
ReplyDeletewoohoo! this is great! I'm about to start a new blogging series thats called {blogging for newbies} and it will have everything a new blogger needs to know (such a THIS POST!) haha. it'll be great for us bigger blogs that receive emails from newbies asking little questions like this - we'll just be able to refer them to the link!! no more long typed out emails!
ReplyDeletethanks for the tip :)

The problem with being on Wordpress is that its doesn't play nicely with Blogger.
ReplyDeleteHey Jess, as requested... I'm not sure why but Google+ makes you a no-reply blogger if you have the accounts linked. Email me if there are questions.
ReplyDeleteSo interesting for me, not being a Blogger blogger, I didn't realize this problem so much. So what did I do? I created myself a blogger account and I just let it be known that my blog is located elsewhere. But I think it'll help out. I felt a little "out of the loop" if you know what I mean. Soo.... hopefully you can reply to this?!?! I am hoping I did it all correctly!
ReplyDeleteGood to know!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't think i'm NO- REPLY blogger. I put my email add on my blogger profile. My purpose is that anyone can write me email anytime they want to. Can you try to reply this?
ReplyDeleteSUCH A HELPFUL POST!!! i didn't know i was until a few weeks ago and someone told me!!

You know what's weird? Google Plus keeps doing something every so often and all of a sudden I'll be a no-reply blogger and have no idea! Then I'll have to go back in and do the same thing again, connecting the blogger profile back to show email. It's so weird (and annoying)!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this post! I shared it on Twitter. And if I don't receive a reply in my email for you, that means I'm one of them. LOL

I'm having a giveaway on my blog if you're interested :)
I experience the heartbreak at least twice a day. I think there should be no 'no-reply blogger' at all! It would make things so much easier and funnier.
ReplyDeleteThis is SO helpful. I've actually been linked to the original post with the tutorial before, but I was still a no-reply blogger. It never occurred to me that the reason would be because I had my Google+ profile linked up! I've disabled it, so hopefully I'll finally be out of the no-reply group. I'm still new to this whole blogging thing, so I'm constantly finding out new things!
ReplyDeleteI am feeling a bit silly but I still don't know if I am or not... =( I have my google+ and blogger linked but I also have email notifications ticked... however, I don't remember receiving replies... I don't know!!! argh!!! hehe xx
ReplyDeleteGlad you shared this!I was unintentionally a "no reply" blogger! Hope it's all fixed now. :)
