When I Close My Eyes

Sometimes, when I need to escape, I close my eyes and I go somewhere. Not just anywhere. And not an imaginary place. A real place that I know and love. A place where I've built some of the most amazing memories. A place that I'll visit often for the rest of my life even if I'm not physically there.

I close my eyes and I see nothing but the clearest bluest water in front of me. I look to either side of me and see the people I love the most on miles and miles of the whitest sand. I look behind me and see the tallest most beautiful trees.

I close my eyes and I taste raw coconuts and the sea.

I close my eyes and I hear the wind blowing and the waves crashing.

I close my eyes and I smell sunscreen and coconuts.

I close my eyes and I feel the softest sand between my toes. I feel the warmth of the sun on my skin. I feel my hair blowing in the wind. I feel my love at my fingertips.  I feel my heart flutter. And I feel myself smile because there's nowhere I'd rather be.
